About the Farm
Las Naranjas is a small, 8-hectare farm in Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua, owned by third-generation coffee producers Martha and Ana Albir. The Albir family has farmed coffee since the 1930s and now operates Cafetos de Segovia, a high-quality dry mill in Ocotal.
Las Naranjas is planted with Caturra and Catuai, and sits at under 900 masl, where careful shade drying is essential due to the intense sun. The family’s history is shaped by political upheaval — during the Nicaraguan Revolution, much of their land was seized, and only part returned. Today, their focus is on quality and innovation, with a greenhouse for experimental lots and a strong emphasis on traceability and producer collaboration.

About the Coffee
This is a washed Caturra lot from Las Naranjas. Cherries are selectively harvested, then processed at Cafetos de Segovia, a family-run dry mill known for its meticulous approach. Most of the drying starts under shade to protect the parchment before moving to full sun.
Cafetos de Segovia processes coffee for over 47 producers, but this lot is grown and milled entirely by the Albir family. With careful fermentation and drying practices, this coffee delivers a clean, sweet cup — a reflection of both origin and thoughtful post-harvest processing.
